
Within the framework of the monthly monitoring and evaluation activities under the SGP II, from January 08 to January 14, 2025, the Monitoring and Evaluation Team from HUSTA and GITEC conducted an on-site inspection of the small grants currently being implemented at Chu Mom Ray and Kon Ka Kinh AHPs.
The objective of this evaluation is to continue monitoring the progress of the small grants (SGs), including:

“Investigating medicinal plant resources, proposing solutions for the conservation of threatened medicinal plants
in Chu Mom Ray National Park and improving livelihood income for ethnic minorities through cultivation of medicinal plants”

“Native beekeeping and commercialization of honey products in buffer zone communes of Chu Mom Ray National Park”
(GA no.: 2023 VNM CMNP 26, conducted by IDEA)

βCurriculum Development and Enhancing Training Capacity of Vocational Training Centers and Agricultural Extension Centers of 5 districts in the buffer zone of Chu Mom Ray and Kon Ka Kinh National Parksβ (GA no.: 2023 VNM CMNP 25, conducted by IDS)

“Commercialization of the precious mushroom for buffer zone communities of Kon Ka Kinh National Park”

“Building sustainable agricultural livelihood models in the buffer zone of Kon Ka Kinh National Park”

“Survey Biodiversity, constituting a Database on Genetic Resources and Proposing Solutions to the Conservation and Development

Moreover, the Monitoring and Evaluation Team also checked the activities of the micro-grants (MGs) under Call 3, including:

βReducing the use of chemical inputs in the farms adjacent to Chu Mom Ray National Park through production of compost
from agriculture by-products/wasteβ (GA no.: 2024 VNM CMNP MG 03, conducted by Womenβs Union of Ya Xier Commune)

βTraining in traditional skills and crafts of weaving making bows, crossbows, etc. of the Bahnar peopleβ

βImprovement of ecotourism services, hospitality skills, and capacity of ecotourism actors/ stakeholdersβ

Overall, the projects have shown significant progress in achieving their objectives, with positive impacts on biodiversity conservation and community livelihoods.
Challenges encountered: market access and sales of products from the models (HUIB, IDEA, DTU); beehives affected by termites, pests, and bee abandonment (VNUF); participation of trainees in training sessions, duration of training sessions (IDS); economic efficiency assessment of the models (DTU);β¦
